Sauna stones - Olivine Diabase

Olivine diabase sauna stones are the most common and most widely used stones for all types of sauna heaters. It is a subvolcanic rock quarried in Western Finland.

Olivine diabase was formed over a long period through the cooling and crystallization of magma deep within the Earth's crust. Geologically, it is an ancient rock formed much earlier than basalt, which originated from lava that erupted onto the Earth's surface.
The birth of the rock occurred when magma bodies moved upward from deep within the earth but did not reach the surface, instead cooling and crystallizing slowly within the Earth's crust.
This slow formation process has given olivine diabase its high density and excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations, making it an ideal sauna stone.

Recommendations: 

• Although the stones have been pre-cleaned, we recommend rinsing them with clean water before placing them in the heater. This helps to remove dust generated during transport and storage.

• Depending on the intensity of sauna use, the stones should be replaced with new ones every 1–2 years. Fresh and clean stones ensure soft steam and extend the life of your heater.
